Facebook’s new privacy settings – All or nothing

Facebook in their infinite wisdom have decided to change the way in which your information is stored and shared, as a part of their ‘Open Graph’ initiative. Previously when you edited your profile information there were a number of text boxes with headings like ‘Activities’, ‘Interests’, etc. In these text boxes users would type a list things they felt were relevent, and these things would be displayed on your profile for your friends to see, much like this: (more…)

About Me

Work

I’m a freelance website developer based in North Devon, England. I have many years experience creating web based content using a wide array of technologies including PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS and Java Script, as well as a strong grounding with web standards.

I’ve been developing websites professionally since 2006, and as a hobby for as long as I can remember. I started out as a freelance website designer and developer whilst I was still studying for my degree, using word of mouth advertising I was hired to create websites for some local businesses. I now only take on contract work which has a fixed time span and agreed rate of pay. Usually I get work through agencies, however if your company is interested in hiring me, please get in touch.

I am also the director of ClearVector, a low cost hosting company, which I set up as I was already offering low cost, high quality hosting to my clients, so it made sense to offer the same great hosting to the general public.

Play

As someone who spends the vast majority of their working day staring at computer screens, when I’m not working I try to get out in to the real world as much as possible (although I am partial to a bit of XBOX 360).

My number one play time passion is music, I love both listening to and creating music of all genres. I enjoy the challenge of learning to play new instruments, my current arsenal includes singing, acoustic and electric guitar, piano, drums, bass, synthesisers and violin. I play regular acoustic gigs locally and have recorded and produced a CD of songs under the name Texas Heart Shot, which has been well received. I also support live music, and try to see as many performances from both local musicians, and well known artists as possible.

I enjoy surfing all year round, and I’m lucky enough to live on the doorstep of some of England’s most beautiful, and not to mention surfable, beaches. I’m also not adverse to a bit of kayaking, but only when the water is too flat to surf.

I’m also a definite petrol head, I love working on cars and motorbikes, either for repairs, or just for the fun of taking them apart to figure out how they work. And of course, I love riding motorbikes as much as I love working on them.
